Hola, fellow travelers and lovers of the sun, the beach and lots of culture! If you’re ready for the amazing vibes Barcelona will give you, join me on a three-day trip inspired by my several trips to Barcelona. Barcelona is a perfect 3-4 day getaway in Europe and I hope you’ll love it like I do!

Things to do

Day 1: Hello Barcelona and hello Gaudi

Morning:

Start your Barcelona trip at the iconic Sagrada Família. Booking tickets online (€38) is your golden tip to skip the queues. Children under 11 are free, but you should still ‘purchase’ the ticket. Take your time, let Gaudí's genius sink in, and grab breakfast nearby at a local place, just go into a small street a bit further from the Sagrada Família and you’ll find something!

Afternoon:

Passeig de Gràcia comes next, decorated with Gaudí's architectural wonders like Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. (try to go during the week for less tourists) It’s a beautiful street that you can’t skip! If you like to do some shopping it’s also a street with tons of shops, keep in mind almost everything is closed on Sunday. Keep lunch budget-friendly by going into the neighboring Gothic Quarter. The narrow alleys host tapas spots loved by locals and often more affordable than the main tourist places.

Evening:

Let the evening unfold in the Gothic Quarter with a tapas night. The amazing atmosphere and diverse flavors capture the beauty of Barcelona. Get lost in the small streets, further away from the touristic places to be able to enjoy the tapas even more. Enjoy the nightlife or the vibe in the beautiful Barcelona.

Day 2: Park Güell, some beach vibes, and the Montjuïc

Morning:

Kick off the day exploring Park Güell. Entrance to the Park is €13, no need for a guided tour. Take your time and soak in the unique vibe. It’s a pretty big place, so make sure you take water or some snack, be careful for the street vendors in the park, you can buy something but you should know that they can’t be there, so don’t be surprised when everyone starts running because they see the police, it’s very normal.

Afternoon:

Head towards Barceloneta Beach for a dose of sun and sea, the early morning in Park Güell was probably tiring, so enjoy the rest. Lunch at a chiringuito or Can Maño offers a taste of fresh seafood. As the sun sets, go to Montjuïc for panoramic views of the city and a beautiful sunset and hopefully some pink or orange sky. When you’re going during Spring or Summer, check out when they do the fountain show, it’s really worth it, but not always possible because of the drought. End your day with dinner at a local place, immersing yourself in the local vibe.

Day 3: Markets, music, and culture

Morning:

Step into the Boqueria market, one of my favorite places in Barca. Breakfast at Pinotxo Bar is a must, let the market's energy set the tone for the day. It’s one of my favourite places, every time I have a competition I go there the day before as a kind of tradition. Don’t buy something from the first stand you see, go a bit more on the inside, the prices do change!

Afternoon:

Get to Palau de la Música Catalana (€16-20). I finally visited this beautiful place, and it’s truly impressive.

I highly recommend attending a concert there if possible because you will get more value for your money. Despite the somewhat expensive entry fee, I’m happy I did!

For lunch, explore the Born district before heading to the Barcelona Cathedral. Wander through the Gothic Quarter’s historic streets; they’re incredibly beautiful.

Evening:

Wrap up your Barcelona journey at the magnificent Cathedral. As the sun goes down, let the cathedral's provide the perfect backdrop for a walk and enjoy your last evening in Barcelona or take your flight home.

Transport

Transport within the city:

Navigate through Barcelona on foot or use the metro with a T-10 ticket. (Around 12 euro for 10 tickets) The metro system is very easy to use so I highly recommend it.

Transport from and to the airport

The Aerobus system in Barcelona is pretty good and cheap depending on where you are in the city. Make sure when you buy the ticket online that you do it a few hours in advance because you don’t always receive the ticket straight away. You can also buy tickets in the bus.

As you say adios to Barcelona, I hope this guide helped you through the visit. Let me know if you love Barcelona like I do, hope to see you in the next post!
