Porto, a city that I loved, but be ready to do some cardio, because the city is very hilly!
I’ll take you on a two day trip, which is in my opinion
the perfect amount on time for this city. Put on your
shoes and let’s check out my two days itinerary for Porto.
Porto’s two day itinerary:
Day 1 in Porto:
Start your day with some good breakfast, they have plenty of cute little bakery’s and small restaurants in Porto, eat some Pastei de Nata to stay in the Portuguese vibe.
After some breakfast go down to the water and do a small boat tour. There are plenty of different companies who offer boat rides, go to a desk or book your boat trip online. Make sure you check the reviews because not all companies are very friendly. Prices go from 12 euro to a few hundred, depending on what you are looking for.
Boat trip
Enjoy the beautiful views around the water after the boat trip and go for some lunch. There are a lot of restaurants around, always try to go in some small street, not the big touristic ones, most of time the small ones are the best! The local dish in Porto is ‘Francesinha’, I didn’t really like it, but a lot of people do!
When you are in the area, uncover the charm of: Ribeira, Baixa and Bolhão. Ribeira has the most pretty streets with colorful houses, cafés, and shops along the Douro River. Don't miss the iconic Dom Luis I Bridge views. Time to take those Instagram and family pictures!
Just above, Baixa and Sé house Porto's gems, including Mercado do Bolhão and the historic Majestic Cafe.

Enjoy your a perfect afternoon, strolling through Porto's historic streets, getting lost in its timeless charm.
For a guided experience, consider a Porto walking tour to uncover the stories behind these captivating districts. We just discovered Porto on our own, honestly just put your gps away and let the city guide you.
End your afternoon with a visit to the Livraria Lello, Porto’s most beautiful library and guess what, I didn’t know you needed a reservation. Don’t make the same mistake as I did! I am a big Harry Potter fan and I was very dissapointed I couldn’t visit the library because rumor has it that J.K. Rowling got a lot of inspiration of thisplace. Make a reservation! If you are a Harry Potter fan like me, maybe this activity is something for you: 3hour Harry Potter Walking Tour through Porto.
End your night with some good dinner and a beautiful sunset at the Miradouro da Vitoria or enjoy the sunset from the Dom Luis Bridge.
Goodnight x
Day 2 in Porto
Good morning! Start your second day in Porto with a hearty breakfast, and let's get going!
Porto is renowned for its iconic trams, especially tram 1 and tram 22, two of the city's most famous lines among the three available.
Explore the city's charm by riding the popular Tram 1, starting from Igreja de São Francisco to Passeio Alegre at the Douro river mouth. Tram 22 is equally famous, taking you through Porto's best monuments.
Recharge with lunch at Ribeira Square, then onward to one of my favorite places in Porto, Palácio da Bolsa. Secure your tickets in advance (€12 or €7.5 for students), including a guide to enrich your experience with fascinating insights into the wonderful architecture and history. A must-do for lovers of beautiful buildings! For me, this is the most beautiful place in Porto! I hope you can enjoy it as much as I did.
Palacio da Bolsa and the best view at Monastery of Serra do Pilar
Get to the other side of the water and visit the Monastery of Serra do Pilar, a beautiful place with an even more stunning view of the city. You can walk around, take pictures, and discover a small park with plenty of grass where people play music, chat, enjoy the vibe, and watch the sunset. It’s the perfect place to end your trip.
After two days in Porto, I hope you enjoyed this city as much as I did. Don't forget to explore the transport and food. If you have any questions about the itinerary, don’t hesitate to contact me! Safe travels!
Transport
Porto is small enough to do by foot, but be ready to go up and down a lot, so you’ll do some cardio. Another good thing to do is taking the public transport, the tram or bus. You can buy a Porto Card for the amount of time you will stay. With this card you also get free acces to some museums and some discounts!
Where to eat
There are a lot of good restaurants in Porto but we went to Flow Restaurant Bar and I loved it. It’s a bit more expensive than other places but it’s so cosy and the food is amazing.
Don’t forget to drink Porto’s famous wine, if you like wine, you can always do some wine tour but count an extra day for this because apparently the tours are amazing!
